This group of youth in grades six through eight have been working for two years towards the creation of a youth-run center for the Waverly community. Under the direction of Ms. Kristina Berdan and the advisory board of older students and adult allies, they have written grants, made television and radio appearances, conducted fundraisers, and received $140,000 from the federal government, foundations, and private donors. They are currently working with students in elementary schools who will be members of the center.
