The Jason Horich Project Class |
||
"George Washington Carver" by Alex Barry and Tevin Murphy Jason Horich, the son of Charlie and Francis Horich passed away in 2004. In Jason's memory, a fund was established at The Stadium School to expose students to the Arts. Over ten thousand dollars was donated to the fund by friends, neighbors, and associates of the Horich's. Jason, a lover of children as well as the arts believed in this medium as a mean to reach children from various backgrounds, cultures, and races. |
The first Jason Horich Art Project Class was formed in the fall of 2004, providing students the opportunity to explore creative potential, develop problem-solving skills, and experience hands-on visual learning. Moreover, students were also able to participate in three different art after-school programs, each offered once a week: Comic Book Club, Mosaic/Painting, and Clay This school year, TSS plans to expand upon its Art Project Class. By continuing its partnership with the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and creating new ones with renowned Baltimore City artist, TSS students will not only be able to explore their potential, but receive specific training in different forms of art, e.g., two dimensional art, mosaics, canvassing, clay works, sculpturing, narrative photograph, etc. Thus, opening career paths and opportunity for students, who without this class may never have received art exposure and training. |
