The Community Rejuvenation Project

This group of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders works to identify issues or concerns within the school and in the surrounding community. Primarily, the project group, to be advised by Ms. Shalonda Wallace, has previously studied the issue of hunger. Their activities in the past included focuses on the issue of hunger, negotiation with the food service to provide hot lunches to Stadium School students, transformation of a vacant lot into a community garden, and implementation of a variety of after-school clubs for Stadium School students. This project group attends professional development classes that are provided by the Maryland School of Law Leadership Program. They also coordinate with the Herring Run Watershed Association to participate in community tree plantings. In SY 2003-2004, CRP designed and created the Dawson Family Memorial Garden to honor the memory of the family of an anti-drug advocate that was slain in an arson.
