Student
attendance is vital to success at the Stadium School. Students must be present at school to receive instruction and
access materials. The school community
measures student growth and progress through personal connections that must be
maintained through good attendance.
Last
year, the Stadium School’s attendance slipped to 93%, two points below the
Maryland State Standard. Keeping this
standard is important in order to prepare students for the demands of the
workplace.
The
Stadium School will make every effort to keep accurate records and encourage
excellent attendance for all students.
The
following guidelines have been adopted for the 2004-2005 school year to improve
student attendance:
·
Students
are expected to arrive at school and report to advisory by 8:20 a.m. Students who are not in the advisory
classroom by 8:20 a.m. will be marked late for the day.
·
Students
who are marked tardy must present a written excuse or serve detention at recess
time on the day of the unexcused lateness.
·
Students
must bring a written excuse in order to verify any excusable absence (doctor’s
note, dentist’s note, etc.)
·
Stadium
School staff will make a phone call to any student who is late or absent from
school.
·
Stadium
School staff will send a letter home to any student who is late or absent from
school three times.
After five (5) occurrences of unverified lateness or absence, the
Stadium School administrative staff will confer with the student and
parent/guardian regarding the consequences of absences and lateness.
After ten (10) occurrences of unverified lateness or absence, the
Stadium School administrative staff and the director will conference with the
student and parent/guardian regarding transfer of the student from the Stadium
School.
